Madang Podcast hosted by the Christian Century began on March 3, 2021 and Madang is now celebrating its third anniversary. It has been a wonderful three years of podcasting and I am so glad that the anniversary occurs during Women’s History Month.
Madang began with Dr. Diana Butler Bass as my first guest and she shared her book, Freeing Jesus. When I was doing this first interview, I was a wreck as the WiFi was lagging and I didn’t know if I was making any sense during the interview. But Diana Butler Bass was a gracious guest and made the interview a fabulous one. Since then, I have had a diverse range of excellent guests and have produced 37 episodes with more fabulous guests lined up for the year.
Podcasting has not been an easy journey. I have often struggled whether to quit or to continue on. During those difficult times, I have constantly received encouraging and kind comments, emails, texts and messages from friends, colleagues and listeners who have been enjoying Madang. They express their joy and gratitude about how much a certain episode has helped them in their own struggles with faith, Christianity, culture and justice issues. These kind messages sustain me through the difficulties and struggles, and give me courage to continue podcasting.
Over the past three years, I have been grateful to each guest for spending their time on Madang Podcast to share their latest books, ministry and advocacy work. I have learned tremendously from each guest as their books and their lives are impactful, influential and valuable. I have been inspired by all my guests as they stimulate and revitalize my own writing and work. I certainly hope that many Madang guests have also impacted your own thinking, faith journey and work.
I am also appreciative to the many wonderful sponsors of Madang Podcast. Their ongoing sponsorships have helped produce wonderful episodes and support the work of public theology.
Some of my latest sponsors are Homebrewed Christianity, Orbis Books, Eerdmans Publishing, Broadleaf Books, Candler School of Theology, PANAAWTM, Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, Fuller Seminary, MTSO, Wild Goose Festival, Herald Press, Bright Stars of Bethlehem, McCormick Seminary, Tzu Chi Foundation, GreenFaith, Watch Fire Publishing, Louisville Institute, Mandy Ford, InterVarsity Press, Earlham School of Religion, Bibliotheca and more.
