Christmas
Yesterday, I somehow agreed to do 3 services. I did the regular Sunday morning service at Presbyterian Church of Catasauqua. Then in the evening, I preached at the First Presbyterian Church of Hokendauqua at 6 p.m. and then Presbyterian Church of Catasauqua at 730 p.m.
I was a bit overwhelmed, but it turned out to be a wonderful Christmas Eve. Christmas comes from the words “Cristes Maesse” which means “Christ's Mass”. Christmas isn’t about shopping, gift-giving and get-togethers, but it is about worshipping Jesus. It was a beautiful night at both churches where family, friends, and strangers came to church to worship Jesus the Christ born over 2000 years ago.
Here is the morning worship at Presbyterian Church of Catasauqua:

May you have a blessed Christmas day. You can also read my co-written piece with Rev. Jackson for the Baptist News Global “Christmas is about worshiping Jesus”.
Jesus’ early years were fraught with the fallout of political and social turmoil. He understood the brokenness of our world, and because he did, he did not come to be a ruler. He came to be a humble servant to his people, to heal the broken, to search for the lost. He sat with the poor, sick, lonely and broken people. Jesus identified with the masses who were in search of good news. Jesus’ mission statement was to clothe the naked, and the poor received him gladly. The powerful and the rich didn’t receive him the same way. They shunned him, disrespected him and wanted him gone. People of power and privilege didn’t like him.
Christmas blessings to you and your loved ones.
