Faith and Democracy Recording
I was so honored to be a panelist on the "Faith and Democracy" webinar which was sponsored by the Christian Century and the D.L. Dykes, Jr. Foundation.
The panel was moderated by Peter Marty who provided a good introduction to Christian nationalism and asked the panelists engaging questions. The panelists answered and engaged with each other for a very lively webinar. The questions asked during the webinar are listed below:
Question 1: What are the political, economic, and racial roots of the threat of Christian nationalism today?: How did we get to this point?
Question 2: What’s the threat of Christian nationalism to Christian faith and democracy? (3 mins or less)
Question 3: When and how did God actually become white?
Question 4: How can churches or people of faith take action today to protect democracy?
Question 5: What can we hope for and have hope in the future of faith and democracy?
I was happy to be asked, “When did God become white?” and of course, I referenced my book. I was thrilled by the warm comments and reflections by Dr. Gary Dorrien about my book. I hope you get a chance to read my new book When God Became White.
I learned so much from both Drs. Obery Hendricks and Gary Dorrien about Christian nationalism and how it impacts our views on immigration, people of color, women, Christianity, culture, and society. You can view the entire webinar here:
